How overtightened straps can damage an optimist hull

Boat transportation - 2

Hello everyone!

In the previous boat transport-1 post post, I mentioned that you need to be careful when tightening the buckles while securing boats on a trailer, as overly tight straps can cut into the surface of the hull.

Unfortunately, I recently managed to take a photo of this type of damage. While the damage itself does not cause any serious structural problems and is only visible up close, it clearly indicates that the strap was tightened excessively.

Of course, it's easy for me to notice this kind of damage, since such marks are not part of the original hull construction :) . So once again, be careful when tightening those load straps.
