When rigged with a 3:1 ratio, it shifts back to the thinner section during a reach-downwind course. For a 4:1 setup, this happens a bit earlier, during a beam reach to broad reach. This mainsheet rope, developed for Optimist sailors, features a diameter that varies between 8 mm and 6 mm. The outer sheath is made of durable, wear-resistant PES. The tapering ensures the rope glides smoothly through the block. To reduce weight, the tapered rope consists of two sections with different diameters, but the rope core remains consistent throughout its length.Thanks to this technology, the section held in the hand can be thicker, with a cotton-like feel that is hand-friendly, while the thinner section can have a more abrasion-resistant sheath. The tapering also helps the rope glide more easily through the block. The combination of Black Technora, Dyneema, Polyester and Cordura creates the most advanced Optimist mainsheet available. The mainsheet has extremely good wear resistance characteristics. It has a total length of 7.6 meter and is double tapered from 9 to 6.5 mm.
